Specification Summary:
Providing 28dB weighted sound reduction, the Bolton Gate Company Sonafold acoustic rated insulated folding door is ideally suited to the closure of internal or external openings where a reduction in noise transmission is required.
The flat faced panel construction provides a robust, yet aesthetically pleasing appearance capable of withstanding high wind load conditions.
Each Sonafold is bespoke and manufactured to order allowing significant flexibility when developing project specifications. Providing the ability to close openings up to 24m in width, the door system can be provided with a wide array of operating controls and safety devices.
The energy saving option of an integrated personnel door can be also incorporated allowing access to authorised personnel without the need to open the full door.
With its high acoustic performance the Sonafold has been specified on many power stations worldwide where they enhance the acoustic envelope of buildings such as turbine halls. Concert venues and recording studios of various kinds have also benefitted from the Bolton Sonafold.
For smaller applications it is also worth considering the Acoustic Roller Shutter—Sonaroll. Please refer to the separate data sheet or speak with our sales team.
The doors are electrically operated as standard using a 400volt nominal , 3 phase direct drive motor mounted on the top track.
Emergency hand chain operation with low level engagement is provided with the motor.
A control panel with integrated open/close/stop push buttons is positioned adjacent to the opening at the bunch side.
A wireless safety edge is mounted to the front edge of the leading panel(s).
The standard arrangement is for the Sonafold to be face fixed internally but there is also the option of mounting between the jambs.
The doors can be single (bunching to one side) or bi-par
The panels are constructed from rolled steel hollow sections with 2mm thick flat galvanised steel facing sheets.
The panels are filled with a high density, acoustic dampening, insulation material and have an overall thickness of 64mm.
The panels are connected using heavy duty hinges arranged at the top, bottom and intermediate positions.
Brush strip is mounted at the top and lower edge of the door panels and a heavy duty rubber seal is mounted to full height between each panel.
The door panels are top hung on four wheel type bearing hangers which incorporate the panel hinges and run in a galvanised steel top track. An auxiliary top track is attached to allow the panels to fold correctly.
A steel channel bottom track is provided and set for alignment within a 200 x 75mm chase before final grouting into position. The unique profile of the bottom track both assists weather sealing whilst providing the necessary level threshold.
The majority of parts are galvanised with other components prime painted. A polyester powder coat finish to a range of standard RAL colours is available as an extra option.
Approximately 50kg per m² albeit this may vary dependent on the door width and height.
