Specification Summary:
The Collapsible Gate was the starting point for Bolton Gate Company over 100 years ago. Our proud tradition of quality British manufacturing began with this product as part of the 1919 King’s National Roll Scheme specifically providing employment opportunities for disabled servicemen returning from the Great War.
Although the gate design has been developed over many years, many of the original mechanical principals have stood the test of time and still remain relevant today contributing to the modern day version of the robust heavy duty steel security gate system.
A high level of security is provided by the intrinsic strength of the gate design and its appearance is an effective visual deterrent against intruders. Being custom made it also offers real flexibility with fixing arrangements; face fixed internally or externally to a support structure or within an opening fixed between the jambs and under a lintel. The small footprint makes the gate ideal for a restricted space envelope, or applications where good visibility, passage of natural airflow and daylight illumination are required.
The Bolton Gate Security Shutter has been supplied and installed on countless applications in the UK but also world wide. Used on factory entrances, storage facilities, boat yards and garages but also on more diverse applications such as cruise ship gangways , specialist military projects and on sites within the nuclear industry.
Where a specific SR rating is required, please refer to the Bolton Gate SecRoll Security Shutters. This product has been successfully tested and approved to satisfy LPS1175 Issue 7 to SR3 (C5).
Various types of arrangement are available with smaller openings typically using a 230v nominal, single phase tubular motor and larger shutters operated by a 400v nominal, three phase geared motor either as a direct drive or flange mounted assembly.
Adjustable limit switches are incorporated to stop the shutter at the extent of its travel.
Standard controls include rocker switches or keyswitches for tubular motors and open/ close / stop push buttons for geared motors.
Fall back protection is provided as standard in the form of safety brakes either integrated within the motor or as a separate roller shaft mounted unit.
A much wider range of supply voltages and operating controls can be accommodated including ATEX requirements.
The curtains are constructed from continuously interlocked galvanised steel laths held securely in place by end locks.
Various thicknesses and profiles of laths are available and are selected according to the individual criteria such as size , wind loading etc. Laths with perforated or punched holes are also available allowing for visibility and free air flow through the curtain.
Bottom rails are generally galvanised and supplied in a T section profile.
Vertical guides are formed from rolled steel channels or fabricated depending upon size and wind loading and are supplied with suitable angles to fix to the structure.
Fabricated from a steel tube of sufficient wall thickness and diameter to prevent deflection.
Fabricated from mild steel with support angles for fixing to the opening structure.
When specified, or if the opening is less than 2.4m high, a galvanised steel coil casing is provided as standard to close off the operating mechanism.
Galvanised steel as standard with some parts primer painted.
Typical arrangements up to 7000mm wide x 7000mm high
We are capable of manufacturing significantly larger widths and heights please discuss your requirements with our sales team.
Varies with opening size dependent on lath/barrel/casing requirements but a typical arrangement would be approximately 25kgs/m².
